Guidelines/Instructions
say, "Now, we're going to read some very short stories together. I'll read and you follow along." (if the child can read aloud and wants to, let him or her do so. Do not require choral reading.) Say, "Pay careful attention, because I'm going to ask you some questions after each story. Your answer can be 'yes' if you are certain the answer is 'yes' or 'no' if you are certain the answer is 'no'. If the story doesn't clearly tell youthe answer, you should say 'maybe'. Here is a practice item'. Do not remove the Stimulus book, keep it in front of the child. Circle Y for 'yes, "N" for 'no', and 'M" for 'maybe' answers. Correct answers are in bold on the test form. Discontinue rule: Discontinue testing if the child cannot understand the task after coaching on the practice story or if the child misses all items on two consecutive stories. Repetition: Only allowed during the practice story.
