Guidelines/Instructions
Indicate how the subject generally reacts or behaves when feeling angry or furious. Part 3. The Anger Expression-and -Control scale describes the extent to which a person expresses his/her emotional experience of anger. The Anger Expression-Out scale (AX-O) measures how often angry feelings are expressed in verbally or physically aggressive behavior; the scale basically evaluates the degree to which a anger as an emotional experience is expressed in an outwardly oriented and badly controlled manner. The Anger Expression-In scale (AX-I) measures how often angry feelings are experienced but not expressed (suppressed). The Anger Control-Out scale (AC-O) measures how often a person controls the outward expression of angry feelings. The Anger Control-In scale (AC-I) measures how often a person attempts to control angry feelings by calming down or cooling off. The Anger Expression Index scale (AX-Index) provides a general index of anger expression based on responses to the AX-I, AX-O, AC-I and AC-O items.
